House
Four to the floor, from Chicago.
What Is House?
House has a kick drum on every beat, a bassline, chords and often a vocal. It started in Chicago in the early 1980s, in clubs with mostly Black and gay crowds.
The Indian Scene
House is played at club nights in most Indian cities. Hamza Rahimtula in Delhi makes deep house; his album Origins with Rajasthan Folkstars came out on Sol Selectas in 2025. Cats Can Dance nights in Bengaluru play house.
